What it does

Everything in Notes.

1Rich notes

Headings, subheadings, monospaced text and checklists.

2Voice notes to text

Record a voice note and have it transcribed into editable text on the phone.

3Scan documents

Scan a page into a note, with automatic edge finding and colour or black and white looks.

4Sketches and photos

Draw with your finger, or add photos from the camera or your gallery.

5Locked notes

Lock a note so only your screen lock can open it, with a recovery key.

6Folders and search

Organise notes into folders, sort them and search them.

7Quick capture

A Quick Note tile, home screen widget and shortcuts for a new note, checklist, scan, sketch or voice note.

8Recently Deleted

Deleted notes can be recovered for 30 days, and you can export a note as Markdown.

How it works

Up and running in three steps.

  1. Tap the pencil to start a note, or hold it to start a voice note.
  2. Add a checklist, photo, scan or sketch as you go.
  3. Lock anything private from the note's ⋯ menu.
Your privacy

Notes has no internet access, so notes never leave the phone; voice transcription runs on the phone through Recorder, which downloads the speech model once.
