Find, organise and free up space

Files lets you browse everything on your phone, SD cards and USB drives, and rename, move, copy, zip and delete with ease. Its Free up space tool finds junk, duplicates, big files and unused apps, but nothing is deleted until you review it.

What it does

Everything in Files.

1Browse all storage

Your phone, SD cards and USB drives, with categories, favourites and recent files.

2Everyday file tasks

Rename, move, copy, duplicate, compress to zip, extract and share.

3Search everywhere

Find files and folders by name across all your storage.

4Recently Deleted

Deleted items are kept for 30 days so you can get them back.

5Free up space

Finds junk files, duplicates, large files, old downloads and app caches to review.

6Chat app clean-up

See photos, videos and voice notes saved by WhatsApp and Telegram, and clear them without deleting your chats.

7Unused apps

Lists apps you haven't opened in 30 days so you can uninstall them.

8Your view

Icons or list, folders first, and an option to show hidden files.

How it works

Up and running in three steps.

  1. Allow Files to manage all files when asked.
  2. Browse or search to find what you need.
  3. Open Free up space, review each suggestion and confirm.
Your privacy

Files never uploads anything and doesn't request internet access; the app-usage access it asks for is only used on the phone to see when you last opened each app.

FAQ

Files questions.

01Will Free up space delete things on its own?

No. Nothing is ticked for you and nothing is deleted until you review it and confirm.

02Does clearing WhatsApp media delete my chats?

No. Your chats stay as they are; the deleted media just won't open in them.

03Is it safe to clear app caches?

Yes. Apps rebuild what they need, so they may be a little slower the first time.
